Everything is possible ...

There is something new and important happening at DTF. I am proud to say that we have become a force to be reckoned with this past season, working hard to revive regional and national interest in our work by attracting the best talent to perform in our plays, design our sets, direct our productions, and work behind the scenes (not to mention- write our plays!). These recent successes prove to me what I have believed since I took over as Artistic Director 2 years ago - that everything is possible for the Dorset Theatre Festival with your help.

Vermont is a place where art and culture matter. It is also a place where community matters. As a patron or past supporter, you are the DTF community. And community matters to me personally - it is what drives my vision for what DTF can and should become. That is why I turn to you now for your renewed support. During our 2011 Season DTF welcomed in a variety of exciting new and continued programs designed to engage, educate and entertain:

  • New Plays premiered by writers like Theresa Rebeck, Tracy Letts, and Craig Wright
  • Gallery & Tapas Café supporting Bennington Meals on Wheels
  • DTF Conservatory & Summer Theatre Camp
  • Theresa Rebeck/Lark Play Development 4th Annual Writer's Retreat
  • New Play Reading Series: 3 staged readings of new plays by emerging writers

Through DTF's new Giving Back Promotions, we have reached out to those in our community who serve us every day. With individual and corporate support, DTF "gave back" over $28,000 worth of free tickets in 2011, building a vibrant and diverse new audience that included:

  • Police
  • Firefighters
  • Teachers
  • National Guard, Military, Veterans and their families
  • EMS workers
  • Special Needs Community
  • Local farmers
  • Refuse to Use Youth program

There is something new and important happening at DTF, and we are proud of it!

As this stellar season comes to a close and we look forward to 2012, we are asking our friends to consider increasing their donation this year. Choosing to contribute to DTF at this time will help us become what we strive to be - a cultural leader in times when the arts could not be more important, an economic engine for the financially hard-hit state of Vermont, a community resource for our region, and the "kitchen table" of the community.

With your help - Everything Is Possible!
